  • QLD Secondary HPE Conference 2022

At this engaging two-day event, you'll have opportunities to network, access latest pedagogy (and tasty lunches), and participate in continuing education. Whether you are an early career teacher or experienced educator, it's an event you won't want to miss! See below for this year's conference program and session details. There will be a mixture of classroom presentations, workshops and plenary sessions - many delivered by practicing HPE teachers. Continued emphasis will be placed on the new Australian Curriculum Health and Physical Education AC:HPE and Senior Health and Senior Physical Education Syllabuses.   • Primary HPE Specialist Planning Workshop 2022

    Friday 2 September 9am - 3pm Online planning workshop This professional development opportunity is specifically designed for Primary HPE specialists and aims to streamline the demands of teaching Health and Physical Education in primary schools. Teachers will participate in workshops that will assess the schools HPE program and provide guidance on how to make omissions and additions for a more streamlined and functional HPE experience for students. Teachers will also be given the opportunity to moderate assessment items and discuss ways of making judgements on the run. The day will be split into three sessions: SESSION ONE: Guiding program planning and pedagogy in Health and Physical Education. Health and Physical Education is shaped by 5 propositions that are informed by a strong and diverse research base for a futures-oriented curriculum. This session will investigate these interrelated propositions and how they provide a framework for exploring the learning described in Health and Physical Education in a way that will create relevance and meaning for all students and support alignment to AC:HPE v9 SESSION TWO: Working across the Achievement Standard Identifying opportunities for Personal, social and community health learning experiences. SESSION THREE: Moderating Assessment in HPE Teachers will share and develop their understanding of what learning looks like by examining examples of different types and quality of students’ work and comparing these with formal standards and success criteria.   • Senior Masterclass Series 2022

    Monday 21 November - Health Tuesday 22 November - PE Wednesday 23 November - Sport & Recreation The ACHPER QLD Masterclass series has been designed to offer Health and Physical Education teachers a deep dive into the content areas covered in the senior Health and PE syllabuses. What is a Masterclass and how is it different to other workshops that ACHPER QLD offers? During the first half of the day, an expert in the subject matter provides in-depth sessions with the latest research and applications in the community. The expert is usually a university researcher/lecturer, a well respected private practitioner or representatives from specialist government agencies. The second half of the day involves group work for teachers to discuss the implications for implementation within their school and sharing of ideas and reflections about how best to apply the knowledge gained.
